On November 28th, Kathy Bright, in collaboration with Pacific Business & Law Institute, presented “We Can Work It Out: Helping Families Facing Discord.” This insightful session explored how advisors can effectively support families experiencing interpersonal conflict.
It highlighted the critical role of advisors in not only managing financial and business matters but also in navigating complex emotional and relational dynamics.
Bright and co-presenter Ian Humphries introduced practical tools and models—such as Family Systems Theory, the Conflict Compass, and the Cycle of Escalation and De-escalation—to help identify root causes of conflict and guide families toward healthier communication and resolution.
Emphasis was placed on enhancing advisors’ awareness of their own reactions and biases, building trust, and adopting a curious, non-judgmental stance to facilitate collaborative problem-solving.
