Consultant
Russel Baskin is a Family Enterprise Consultant and Certified Coach, who helps families preserve what matters most: strong relationships, shared purpose, and the ability to successfully transition leadership, ownership, and wealth across generations.
Drawing on more than 20 years of experience, Russel works with business families, families of wealth, and individual family members to address the complex human dynamics that accompany change. She guides families through leadership succession, ownership transitions, governance discussions, and evolving family roles, helping them build trust, improve communication, and create alignment around a shared vision for the future.
Prior to joining Trella Advisory Group, Russel served as National Director of Education and Programming at Family Enterprise Canada, where she worked closely with family business leaders, enterprising families, and advisors from across the country. Her career also includes leadership roles in marketing, business development, education, and the not-for-profit sector, as well as coaching professionals through significant life and career transitions.
At Trella, Russel specializes in family continuity planning, relationship dynamics, governance conversations, and next-generation preparedness. She is particularly passionate about helping families explore the purpose of their wealth, their relationship to it, and the values they hope to pass forward. By strengthening both financial and human capital, she helps families prepare future generations to become capable stewards of family wealth, values, and legacy.
Known for her empathy, insight, and direct communication style, Russel creates space for honest dialogue and thoughtful decision-making. Clients value her ability to ask meaningful questions, surface differing perspectives, and guide conversations toward practical outcomes that strengthen both family relationships and enterprise success.
Having lived and worked in England, Hong Kong, the United States, and Canada, Russel brings a global perspective to her work. She maintains her dry British wit and believes that a sense of humour is often one of the most valuable tools for navigating family relationships and life's transitions. She now calls Toronto home.
