Paul is a chartered professional accountant who combines his vast technical tax knowledge with his understanding of the relationship dynamics at play when working with multigenerational families. He helps families articulate their goals and objectives, consider financial and relational consequences when transitioning businesses and wealth across generations. Before consulting with Trella, Paul was a partner at Grant Thornton for over 30 years where he focused on succession and estate planning for privately held enterprises and families with wealth. Over the years Paul has fine-tuned his skills, maintained a genuine curiosity and sensitivity while helping families thrive. Providing recommendations and options that serve the family as well as their wealth is something Paul finds especially rewarding and fulfilling. He has authored numerous articles and delivered a number of presentations on the challenges of successful transition planning.

Paul is a member of CPA Canada, CPA Ontario, the Family Firm Institute and is a designated Family Enterprise Advisor. As well Paul has completed CPA Canada’s In-Depth Tax Program.
When his is not working Paul enjoys spending time with his own family and friends at the cottage, as well as curling and sailing.Â
